RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT

Research Development offers workshops, cohort programs, and events to help faculty navigate the research lifecycle, strengthen proposals, and build collaborations.

Workshops and Special Events

  • New Faculty Orientation – An annual fall session from the Office of Research that introduces the research lifecycle and available services, from funding opportunity identification through project closeout.
  • Research Development and Office of Research – These workshops help faculty build practical knowledge in research development and connect with key UCF research support resources. Topics include seeking funding, limited submissions, grant writing basics, proposal preparation, SciENcv, and other Office of Research services and infrastructure.
  • Agency and Program-Specific – These workshops focus on specific agencies an programs to help faculty prepare stronger proposals for federal, state, and private funding opportunities, including NSF, NIH, DOD, and DOE topics.

 

Cohort Programs

  • Grant Writing Academy – A fall program that helps faculty develop competitive external funding proposals and adapt to multiple agencies through structured sessions, interactive activities, and proposal development support.
  • Industry Readiness – A fall program that helps faculty prepare for industry engagement through a bootcamp and seminar series focused on industry expectations, research alignment, communication, and partnership-building.
  • NSF CAREER Mentoring – A spring/summer program for early-career, tenure-track faculty preparing NSF CAREER proposals through workshops, consultations, peer review, and mock review activities.

 

Collaboration and Connections
