The Duty to Disclose

In accordance with both university policy and federal regulations, all intellectual property resulting from federally funded research must be disclosed to the Office of Technology Transfer (OTT). Additionally, university personnel are required to disclose to OTT all intellectual property which is owned by the university.

The university actively encourages the publication of research findings. However, to ensure proper protection of intellectual property rights, inventors are strongly advised to promptly and fully disclose any inventions to the OTT prior to public disclosure or publication. Revenue Distribution

The UCF Research Foundation (UCFRF) is authorized to receive and manage revenue generated through intellectual property agreements executed by the Office of Technology Transfer. In accordance with the University of Central Florida’s Intellectual Property Policies and Regulations and the Collective Bargaining Agreement, inventors and creators are entitled to a share of the revenue derived from the licensing or assignment of intellectual property they developed at the university. Such revenue may include license fees, royalty payments, and proceeds from the sale of equity in licensee companies.

All revenue received as a result of licensing activities is distributed in a manner that supports continued technology development at UCF and promotes the transfer of innovations to the marketplace. The distribution schedule for net revenue is structured to provide meaningful incentives to inventors while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. The following guidelines outline the process for distributing licensing revenue:
