This page will serve as a reference for what your next steps are and the services available to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please take your time to read all information on this page to aid in your transition. <strong>Information is divided on must do items before you arrive at our institution, after your arrival, services available to you, and a checklist you can use to track your own progress. <\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:#fcb900\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">If you are already a UCF Student, please note that the outlined information is not necessary for you to complete at this time. This allows for your status as a &#8220;non-degree seeking&#8221; REU participant to become activated so the REU Support Team can allow you to be enrolled. All other steps can only be accomplished after your admissions application has been processed. As long as you have completed the application, you should not be concerned as processing will be completed by a UCF staff member.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This step should be completed as soon as you can, as you will be unable to complete vaccination records until your application is fully processed. Generally, a week should be enough time for your application to be fully processed, however, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to the ucfreu@ucf.edu email. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-vaccination\">Vaccination:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All new students at UCF must complete the mandatory &#8220;UCF Immunization Health History&#8221; form to show proof of vaccination. This is important first step to take towards your REU participation as you will be put on a registration hold until this is completed. Without completion of this step you will be unable to obtain a UCF ID card or gain access to the, UCF Health Center or the Recreation and Wellness Center, and ultimately unable to register as a non-degree seeking student. These immunizations are required at the institution because of state guidelines. To find which immunizations are required for attendance at UCF, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/studenthealth.ucf.edu\/immunizations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student Health Services Immunization Compliance page <\/a>and click on the &#8220;Requirements and Vaccine Information&#8221; file. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submission of your records should be completed via <strong>Med+Proctor<\/strong>, where you will use your UCF login credentials to make an account. Vaccination records with your name on them from your educational institutions, physician&#8217;s office, state health department or the like can be used. This photo will be used to aid in the reservation of housing and will be used to verify your identity on your initial check-in day. You may send a photo of your driver&#8217;s license or passport to your instructor to complete this task. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2026, REU undergraduates will be housed at the 4&#215;2 Lake Claire Apartments. You can view details and images here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housing.ucf.edu\/lake-claire\/\">Lake Claire \u2013 Housing and Residence Life<\/a>. Depending on space availability REU participants may be housed with REU participants outside of their specific program&#8217;s cohort. As a participant, you are NOT responsible for coordinating your housing. At no point, will you be asked to pay or complete a formal housing application as a participant. During move-out, it is important that you turn in your key on the specified date by 5pm with all items and trash removed. At UCF, these permits are typically bought online and for a single use, 24 hour access, these passes cost $8. We recommend to all REU students to instead considering a 150-day virtual student permit. Each 150-day permit costs $47.94 &#8211; a discount from purchasing a single day pass every day. Parking passes will be needed as soon as your first day on campus; however, it is likely that you won&#8217;t have a UCF ID. You are able to purchase a permit as early as a week before your move-in date. We are looking forward to meeting you in person. For 2026, we are aiming to host this reception at the Live Oak Event Center. All REU participants and instructors will be invited to attend. Alongside the food that we&#8217;ll be offering, we will have a presentation, guest speakers, and tabling of some of the resources available to you as a REU participant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A reminder will be sent out the week of the event to ensure that as many participants can attend as possible. This training aims to inform students about issues such as stalking, relationship violence, sexual harassment, and more. In order to facilitate your completion of this training, the REU Support Team has coordinated an in-person training event. All students should expect to attend this in-person event. In the case of a conflict, your PI should contact the REU Support Team in order for us to instead supply you with the online module. If you are completing the online module, we will be in contact with our Let&#8217;s Be Clear trainer to mark you training as successful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Let&#8217;s Be Clear In-Person Training Date:<\/span> Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-summer-poster-showcase\">Summer Poster Showcase:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>UCF holds annual research showcases to give opportunities for students to present on their research work. The Summer Poster Showcase is hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) to allow REU participants and Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) participants the opportunity to present their work. This showcase serves as our major closing event to wrap up REU events. Students typically use their UCF ID or the UCF RWC App in order to scan in to begin their workouts or take classes! The REU Support Team is responsible for ensuring your access, if you have any problems at the RWC, please let us know. To support your time at UCF, you will have access to our mental health services which provide counseling sessions, group therapy, workshops, and access to other online mental health apps. Though you are likely considering a meal plan, the Knights Helping Knights Pantry can supplement your dietary needs. Though some restrictions apply, you can also consider getting baked goods, school supplies, toiletries, and even professional clothing through this service. Your UCF ID can also give you access to the local Lynx bus system and discounts for regional trips to Tallahassee, Gainesville, and South Florida through RedCoach. If you&#8217;re running late to the lab or just need to get across campus fast, UCF also has SPIN scooters at your disposal for a fee.
