Start Date:

End Date:

Agent Transparency in Automated Systems

Description:

This experiment can take anywhere from 3-4 hours to complete. Please allow for up to 4 hours of free time to complete the experiment in the event it takes you longer than 3 hours to complete. You will be paid for the entire time you are participating even if you go over. The purpose of this study is to determine how effectively humans can make decisions given contextual and transparency information. First you will be given an introduction, tested for color vision, asked to complete several computer and paper surveys, and given a training and evaluation session to help familiarize you with the task for the experiment. The training session will be very similar to the experimental session. Once this is complete, you will play the role of an unmanned systems operator whose job it is to task to decide which vehicle is best for a particular mission. You will complete several missions throughout the experiment controlling a team of multiple unmanned vehicles through a computer interface. During the experiment you will be working with an intelligent agent that will present you with a choice of vehicles to use for each mission.

This study is conducted at IST, in Partnership Building II. You must arrive to the lobby prior to your scheduled time so that the experiment may begin promptly (see below for directions). Please wait in the lobby and a researcher will meet you.

Serving Faculty

The Office of Research serves UCF scholars as the official liaison between UCF and funding sources and by helping faculty work through the proposal and contract management process.

This site includes information to assist university scholars through the announcement, application and post-award stages and to familiarize prospective partners with the breadth of funded research conducted at the university.

Sponsored research at UCF is growing exponentially. UCF is committed to the pursuit of excellence and intellectual growth and seeks to excel at moving ideas to innovation and realization. The Carnegie Foundation rates UCF as a "very high research activity" university. Weve been on an upward trajectory for years and in 2020 UCF surpassed the $204.5 million dollar mark in external funding. UCF's pioneering efforts to commercialize technology continue to stimulate local economies throughout the state. The number of patents at UCF also continue to climb with 44 U.S. issued patents produced in 2019.
