The UCF Research Foundation of the University of Central Florida, Inc. (Foundation) is a not-for-profit Florida corporation incorporated April 30, 1991. The Foundation is operated exclusively for the benefit of the University of Central Florida, Inc. (University). The Foundation is a University Direct-Support Organization within the definition of Florida Statutes Section 240.299, and as such is organized and operated exclusively to receive, hold, invest and administer property and to make expenditures to or for the benefit of the University.

The purposes of the Foundation include the promotion and encouragement of, and assistance to, the research activities of faculty, staff, and students of the University, including the development of research, and the providing of buildings for such research activities and related or complementary uses, and to provide a means by which inventions and copyrightable materials may be developed, patented, applied and utilized in order that the results of University research shall be made available to the public and that funds be made available from inventions and copyrightable materials to support education and research at the University.
