Facilities and Administrative Costs (F&A) (formerly indirect costs or overhead)*
F&A rates are available in Adobe pdf format at: http://www.research.ucf.edu/SponsoredPrograms/Proposal/forms/F&A.pdf
*F&A costs (formerly indirect costs or overhead) may be limited by sponsoring agencies. Please review agency guidelines for restrictions.
Facilities and Administrative Costs (F&A) (formerly called overhead/indirect costs) and Fringe Benefit
rates must be applied fairly and equitably on all proposals regardless if submitting to a
federal, state, local, foundation, educational, professional, and/or private agency.
The following rates apply within their respective time frames and are applicable to UCF on-campus
research, off-campus research, and FSEC on-campus research activities:
UCF General F&A Rates
On-Campus organized research: 07/01/2007
- 06/30/2008. Please apply the rate of 42%.
On-Campus organized research: 07/01/2008
- 06/30/2009. Please apply the rate of 44%.
On-Campus organized research: 07/01/2009
- 06/30/2010. Please apply the rate of 45%.
Off-Campus research: Please apply 26%. Please note that off-campus
research is defined as a research project that is conducted the
majority of the time off-campus with no or limited commitment of
UCF owned or managed resources other than personnel. Please consult
with the proposal administrator assigned to your area as this
will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
A project cannot consist of
both an on-campus and off-campus rate.
For additional F&A rates, please see the F&A rate agreement which can be accessed above in PDF. If you are unsure which F&A rate applies, please consult with your proposal administrator for your assigned area.
All
above rates are applied to the total direct costs on a modified
basis. Modified means that F&A
will not be charged on equipment that costs $1,000 or more per unit,
that portion of a subcontract in excess of the first $25K for
each subcontract regardless of the number of years of support, patient care costs,
rental/ maintenance of off-site activities, student tuition, and student support
costs.
