Transparency of agent reasoning and its effect on automation-induced complacency    



Description:

You will supervise a convoy as it proceeds through a simulated suburban environment with the assistance of an intelligent agent. You will accept or reject the agent’s route suggestions as appropriate. You will also be responsible for maintaining communications with command and identifying threats along the way. In addition to the individual difference information collected, there are two screening tests (color blindness and RSPAN). Failing scores on these tests will disqualify participants for continuing and they will be dismissed. After screening, there will be a training session that includes practice trials. Participants will need to demonstrate a minimum level of competence in the experimental tasks during training and practice to continue in the experiment Participants will be paid $15/hr for each hour of participation, rounded to the nearest half hour. Expected duration 4 hours. Please ensure you have at least 4 hours available to participate. This study is conducted in the ARL lab in UCF-IST Partnership II building. Please meet the researcher in the lobby. Please inform the receptionist in the lobby you are participating in the ARL study when you arrive.

Eligibility:

18 - 40 yrs old; U.S. Citizenship Required; normal or corrected-to-normal vision; not color blind; pass screening test; bring photo id; no heavy eye make-up or false eyelashes
