COHPA selects faculty fellows for innovative training program

Fellows (front row, left to right) Ana Leon, Julie Steen, Alice Noblin, (back row, left to right) Jennifer
Kent-Walsh, Denise Gammonley, Patrick Pabian, William Hanney, Ross Wolf and Reid Oetjen

Ten faculty members have been selected to form the College of Health and Public Affairs’ first group of Research Faculty Fellows. The COHPA Research Faculty Fellowship is a competitive program, carrying a $2,500 stipend, that promotes the professional development of faculty researchers. Each fellow completes the program by submitting a research proposal to a federal funding agency.

In fall 2009 and spring 2010, the fellows will:

  • attend intensive workshops on advanced methodologies and statistics
  • receive mentoring on research and scholarship, including research design, transfer of knowledge and writing for scientific publications
  • receive structured feedback from experienced grant writers on a research proposal

To read about the program, the ten faculty members who have been selected and their research projects visit http://www.cohpa.ucf.edu/09-10ResearchFellows.shtml.
