WHAT: Florida Innovation Showcase 2008
WHEN: March 19-20, 2008
WHERE: Orlando World Center Marriott Resort and Convention Center
Plan now to attend the Florida Innovation Showcase 2008, formerly the Florida Tech Transfer Conference. Universities throughout Florida will showcase their latest technologies to potential industry and investment partners.
Keynote will be delivered by Milton Chang, an engineer who has grown into one of the world’s most successful high-tech entrepreneurs. Chang’s experience with incubation and high-tech start-ups began when he successfully took the Newport Corp. public in 1971. He went on to provide the original seed capital to Uniphase (later JDS-Uniphase) and New Focus (acquired by Bookham), which he founded in 1990 and took public in 2000. He is now focusing on his lastest endeavour, the Incuibic investment fund, where he shares his expertise and experience with entrepeneurs and investors. The company’s motto is “We Help Entrepreneurs Build Great Companies.”
“Milton Chang is simply one of the most successful figures in the world in the commercialization of optics technologies, said M.J. Soileau, vice president for research at the University of Central Florida. “Anyone with any interest in building or investing in a high-tech company should take advantage of this opportunity to meet him at the Florida Innovation Showcase.”
Dr. Thomas O’Neal, associate vice president for research, is chairing the conference which is being held in conjunction with the SPIE Defense & Homeland Security Symposium.
